Basic Herb Gardening Tips

Herbs are very sturdy and are a great starting plant for inexperienced gardeners. Herbs can make you most of the time without fertilizer or good soil. Many repel insects and may not need pruning. These basic herbal gardening tips will help you with your new herb garden: Once you have selected the types of herbs you want to grow and care for, you do not have to make a large hole to plant them and the seeds are planted very close to the surface because they like good drainage. To plant herbs properly, a small shovel, spade, spike, or for will be useful in compressed soil aeration so that new seeds to grow. While herbs do not need frequent pruning, it is best to prune them from time to time to get the best results. Because of this, you will need to have a pair of pruning shears. While scissors are useful for gardening (to cut the thread or small stems, for example), tasks like trimming thicker stems require a pair of sharp pruners.
Gardening

One of the basic tasks of gardening herbs is water so a good showerhead could be a useful tool, but it depends on the shape and size. Some have very narrow openings, which is good since you have more control over where the water goes. Herbs need less water and often suffer when watered. Choose a watering can with small holes to facilitate water flow control. Even though watering cans are a great way to water small herb gardens, they can be an impractical use of your time if you have a larger garden. One of our gardening herbal tips for larger gardens is an irrigation system. You can set up a simple drip or hose system. These systems are relatively inexpensive and are not especially difficult to set up. Depending on their climate, such systems may need replacements every two years. Winter can cause a toll on the hoses, since unless you remove them in the fall and replace them in the spring, snow and cold will nick the hoses and cover them with dirt. However, it takes less than an hour of time to place the hose in a garden of 20 feet x 30 feet - it's as simple as placing the hose equally on the garden and fixing it in place. If you are looking for something to transport container plants in the garden so you can transplant them, a wheelbarrow can be useful. It can also be useful to remove weeds that you have removed from your garden. This method is much easier than picking them up from the ground when you are finished with the weeding. This will also help to stop the re-sowing process. One way to minimize weeding and increase soil nutrient content is by padding. Placing a 3-4 inch layer made of torn newspapers, bark, gravel or wood chips, leaving an inch of space around the base of any plant, is all you need to do. Any excess moisture or heat is dispersed by the space around the base of the plant. As you can tell, it is not difficult to follow some basic gardening herbal tips. You can have a large herb garden with just a few good, simple tools, a couple of seed packs, and some good soil.
